How to compare cricket all-rounders

Start with what each player actually contributed with bat and ball, and how often they had the opportunity.

Put participation beside production

Runs from eight innings and runs from twenty innings mean different things. The same applies to bowling: check appearances and overs alongside wickets, average and economy.

Read both sides of the performance

A batting average alone misses bowling contributions. A wicket tally alone misses batting. CricRate player pages let you examine those records alongside match and season ratings.

Do not treat missing evidence as failure

Not batting or not bowling in a match is different from doing so unsuccessfully. Missing balls faced or unidentified fielders also limit what can be concluded from a scorecard.

Use deeper evidence where it exists

Free ball-by-ball Analytics can add a separate view of recorded delivery situations. It is available only where the necessary verified data exists.
