How CricRate cricket ratings work
Runs and wickets tell part of the story. CricRate helps you explore recorded batting, bowling and fielding contributions together.
One match, one contribution
A match rating summarises the player’s rateable contribution to that match. A player does not need to bat and bowl to receive a rating. Recorded fielding contributions can also matter.
A season is more than a simple average
The season model looks across rated appearances and the evidence available for each contribution. A season rating is not simply the arithmetic average of the match ratings. A short sample should be interpreted cautiously.
NR means unrated
Missing or insufficient usable evidence can leave a performance unrated. An abandoned fixture or a result without a usable scorecard cannot justify inventing an individual rating. NR is not zero.
Free Analytics adds delivery evidence
Where verified ball-by-ball data has been imported, Analytics provides a separate Context Score and deeper player and team insights. Basic scorecard syncing alone does not supply ball-by-ball data. Analytics is free.
