Privacy and player-data requests

You can contact CricRate about your information without creating an account or joining a club.

Contact the operator

CricRate is operated by Ross Potter. Email support@cricrate.co.uk with the subject “Privacy request”. Opening the email link does not send a request: review and send the email in your email app. You can also copy the address.

What you can ask for

You can ask about access to your data, correction of a scorecard or identity, erasure, restriction, or object to use of your data for player ratings. You can ask for a human review of a rating or identity match. Rights depend on the circumstances; a request is reviewed rather than automatically refused because the scorecard was public.

Help us find the right record

Include the player’s name as shown, club and XI, season, and a match date or scorecard link if available. Explain what you want us to do and which information looks wrong. If you are a parent, carer or representative, say whom you represent and your relationship. A player may have different spellings of their name; a source player ID or link can help distinguish people.

Do not send a passport, full date of birth, medical information, passwords, API tokens or account recovery links with your initial request. We may ask for a proportionate identity or authority check if needed. You do not need a CricRate account to make a request.

Children and young players

Senior cricket can include players under 18. A child or their parent or representative can raise a concern about a player record or rating here. Please flag any urgent safeguarding concern without including unnecessary sensitive details. We cannot determine a player’s age from their name or from the division they play in.

What happens next

Requests are handled manually by the operator. The usual legal response period is one month; where a lawful extension or further information is needed, this must be explained. Deleting an account, signing out or disconnecting Play-Cricket does not by itself delete imported cricket records. A request about a player should identify those records separately.

Corrections, restrictions and erasure may need to cover match records, season summaries, league selections, caches and retained copies. Hiding a page alone does not complete that work. No automatic player opt-out or erasure tool is currently provided.

About the ratings

CricRate calculates match and season ratings automatically from imported cricket performances. Ratings are estimates from the available evidence and can be challenged. A scorecard appearing on Play-Cricket does not establish permission for every reuse, and CricRate is responsible for its own use of player information.

Data protection complaints

You can also send a data protection complaint to the same support address, with the subject “Privacy complaint”. A complaint must be acknowledged within 30 days, investigated without undue delay, and followed by updates and an outcome. This complaints process is separate from the usual one-month response period for data-rights requests.

If you remain concerned

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You can contact CricRate first to explain the issue, but that does not remove your right to complain.

Updated 15 October 2026. The in-app Privacy notice describes account, cricket and feedback information. This page provides the request process and does not claim that a player or parent has consented to ratings.
